Local TV today had a story of a Stay At home dad – that heaped praises on men who defy those pesky gender norms. His wife a pharmacist is now the breadwinner while he takes care of the kids.
But what this new breed of hen picked men don’t know is that all over the western hemisphere where this phenomenon of the stay at home dad OR the man that is out-earned by his wife is at significant risk of divorce. Even in cases where the man and woman starts off of even footing or where the man is the main breadwinner – and she goes on to out earn him – you know because feminists in the US are ‘smashing the patriarchy’ and she is could now play the sexism card if she is not promoted and the negative publicity that upper management face for promoting that misogynistic environment that harms women – its now common for women out-earn their husbands or even relegate him to home duty. But study after study says this is risk for the man and his marriage. Chalk it up to evolutionary psychology that women naturally want the man to lead OR that she just cannot respect a man who she out-earns, OR even the misogynistic explanation that she just wants more money from a man who can provide it, what ever according to the data and research this does not usually have a good outcome for the marriage.
